I’ve been working and selling at Studio 3 (#Studio3 !) for over ten months now and feeling very snug and at home. My collection is evolving the benefit of having the work around me to refer to, it’s quite an experience after many years of working on relatively small collections at a time then sending them straight off to a venue, that you often can’t visit! It makes a huge difference to developing pieces.

What is Jewellery?
I’m excited to be taking part in ‘What is Jewellery’?
”What is Jewellery’? An exhibition of jewellery made from unorthodox materials from a selection of national and international jewellery artists, as part of Manchester Free For Arts Festival. Curated by Eve Redmond’
It opens 3rd until 12th Ocotber, which coincides with the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, and will be held in Space2 at Manchester Craft & Design Centre, right next door to our studio/shop (Studio 3), as it happens!
I will be showing alongside some amazing jewellers including two of my favourite makers, Yoko Izawa and Jo Pond.
You can follow the event on facebook here . . . https://www.facebook.com/events/633904003394234/
Lovely necklace commission
A few weeks ago I received a lovely request for a very special necklace commission. It was a little more special as she already has some of my jewellery and with an understanding of my work, she thought of me when she was looking through her gran’s personal belongings. She visited me at the studio/shop and we discussed a style based around a current necklace design she liked, which will house her own found treasured ephemera. The items include a recipe book (I have a bit of an obsession for old and well used recipe books), photographs, a notebook and a gold wedding band, naturally worn into a perfect wonky oval shape. The necklace will celebrate her life and memory and the ephemera can be worn and enjoyed, rather than just being kept in a box and looked now and again, although there is plenty of treasure to do both! I’ve been working with photocopies to cut up freely and create some design ideas which will enable us to decide on a final design, then I will start to work with these precious items.

Studio 3 launch this Saturday!
As I am new to the lovely Linzi Ramsden’s Studio 3, and we have had a nice fresh re-furb, we will be launching Studio 3 this Saturday ….
We will also be opening the first of an exciting series of 3-month ‘invited makers’ exhibitions at the studio. The first will show collections by Julie Dooley and Ellen Claesson. They both graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan School of Art and Design in 2013. They are also part of the annual exhibition at the Craft Centre, Future Makers, showcasing recent graduates. Each studio at the Craft Centre has selected a maker of their choice from the graduate shows across the UK. The main exhibition space at the Craft Centre, will show work by graduate Elizabeth Jane Winstanley and it all opens this Saturday! I am so excited to be in this great new studio/shop and hope you can visit me in our celebrations!
It would be lovely if you can join us on ….
on Saturday 15th March
