Thirteen makers from Manchester Craft & Design Centre are busy creating new work for this years, 10th anniversary Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair

The makers work in various disciplines and will be showcasing their jewellery, textiles, silversmithing, pewter, glass and leather on Stand 20. This is an important annual event for us and it is extra exciting to be part of the events 10th anniversary show

Come and visit us, and meet us, on Stand 20, and why not combine it with a visit to MCDC!

Buy Art Fair 2016

For the last few weeks I’ve been working towards Buy Art Fair. It’s the first time I’ve taken part in the fair and will be showing new collages, 2 more days left to make more! I’m currently at my desk drowning in papers, eagerly waiting to be chosen!

I’m excited to be on the Manchester Craft & Design Centre shared stand, so I can walk along with those from MCDC that take part every year, and I’m in lovely company. More info on the others taking part in the MCDC link above. Yesterday our front room looked more like a mounting and framing waiting room . . .

The Great Northern . . .

Well the Great Northern is over, I must say I am still alittle exhausted and still have heaps of catching up to do, so much is put aside when you’re doing a fair! But it was really great to be involved, and lovely to do a fair on the doorstep. Sales were good, comments were brilliant, it’s really a shame we can’t pay our bills with those comments, as boring as it sounds, we really do need them to become sales (I am sure some think creatives just get by happily, let me know how please!) I really enjoyed planning and then putting my stand together and seeing a full collection of jewellery and collages in a sympathetic context, I used pages from an old ledger book as a back drop, with lists of their shopping, debts and day trips from 1907. I think people really respond to my work when I am able to show the full story. It’s also really great to see some great work, some of my favourites being, Carla Edwards, Naomi Robinson, Julia Smith, Kaper and Julia Jowett (… there really were lots of gorgeous work!).

Lustre in progress!

Sorry for the lack of posts of late, work has begun for Lustre and there are not many hours where I am not busy working on it, actually not even one (awake) hour in the day! I have a new display ‘almost’ sorted, I have frames for a few collages being delivered, (I’ve two deliveries this morning to two different places! I am at least mentally split between them!) Really looking forward to seeing them framed up, though having a hard time deciding on the perfect Farrow & Ball off white to choose to paint them! Rediculous! Lots of jewellery still part made, and some still just in my head, but generally all on schedule, which I think is a first! I’ve taken a few snap shots of pieces just finished, take a look … and reminer of the event, dates, times etc are here.

Lustre and time in Nottingham

It’s been a busy ol’ week after taking part in Lustre 2010, it was a lovely show, great makers and great visitors, thoroughly enjoyed it. Then a day off on Monday in Nottingham exploring. It’s a beautiful and very friendly place to be, loved it. And of course took a sqwillion photos… I stayed in the centre of the city with an amazing view out from the hotel room. It was also just round the corner from Debbie Bryan’s shop who I have exhibited with a few times in New York and so a visit to her shop was essential. I could have moved in, so lovely! A really unique shop for craft seeing and buying: www.debbiebryan.co.uk
